3 Square Art has named Lisa Hatchadoorian Fort Collins Director, effective September 8, 2026. The appointment comes as the Fort Collins art center prepares its next chapter of growth.
Lisa will lead day-to-day operations at 3 Square Art — studios, gallery, classroom, and gift shop — and the first phase of expansion: more studio space, a larger gallery and gift shop, and a one- to two-year art school with a certificate path.
In Fort Collins, the McKee Art Foundation operates as 3 Square Art. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) founded by Kumiko S. McKee and Craig A. McKee. The mission remains Create | Share | Learn, with a fourth charge: Preserve a collection.
“We started 3 Square Art so artists would have space to work, and the public could see serious contemporary work, especially contemporary realism, and then stay for the community around it,” said Kumiko S. McKee, co-founder and Gallery Director/Curator. “What stood out to me about Lisa is the breadth of her experience across the arts. She understands the arts not only from the curatorial and organizational side, but from the perspective of someone who grasps the discipline and work behind creating art. That is what this next chapter needs.”
Hatchadoorian has more than two decades of experience in museums, public art, teaching, and nonprofit leadership. She led the Museum of Art Fort Collins for nearly twelve years, growing its budget, facility, giving, scope, and audience. She previously managed curatorial programs at the Nicolaysen Art Museum in Casper, Wyoming, and directed public-art projects including an NEA Our Town grant. She holds a B.A. in Art History and Music from the University of Virginia and an M.A. in Curatorial Studies of Contemporary Art from Bard College.
“Fort Collins is home and has such a dynamic and vibrant arts community,” said Hatchadoorian. “3 Square Art already has the pieces in one place with a clear mission of Create, Share, Learn. What interests me is growing that: enhanced exhibitions, more room for artists to work, stronger creative educational programs for our community, real educational paths, and a wider circle of people connected to the arts, here and beyond.”
Kumiko continues to lead the gallery’s artistic direction. Craig serves as President of the Foundation. Lisa will run Fort Collins operations day to day.
“Lisa is known and trusted in the community, and she knows how to grow an arts organization without losing the people who make it matter,” said Craig McKee, co-founder and President of the McKee Art Foundation. “We want her to lead 3 Square Art through its next chapter in Fort Collins — Create, Share, and Learn.”
