Classes

Join us at 3 Square Art in Fort Collins, Colorado, for Introduction to Watercolors and learn the Principles of Watercolors to Craft Stunning Paintings. This 4-Class journey is perfect for beginners and artists with some experience who are eager to explore the magic of translucent hues and transform blank pages into vibrant works of art. With no prior experience needed, you’ll master essential techniques, from fluid washes to intricate blending, all while unleashing your creativity in a supportive, hands-on environment.

Class 1 – Getting Started with Watercolors
Learn the essential tools and foundational techniques of watercolor painting. We’ll explore brush handling, paper preparation, wet-on-wet and dry-brush methods, and how to control water and pigment. You’ll also get practical experience creating your first painting of a monochromatic still life.

Class 2 – Color Theory and the Still Life
Discover how watercolor colors mix, layer, and interact on the page. We’ll cover basic color relationships and then apply them to a simple still life. This class focuses on building clean washes, controlling edges, and creating subtle color transitions.

Class 3 – Learning Watercolors with Landscapes
Apply your growing skills to landscape painting. You’ll gain a lot of practice with washes as we simplify multiple beautiful landscape scenes into their fresh and luminous forms.

Class 4 – Crafting a Watercolor Masterpiece
Bring everything together in a final beautiful landscape painting. This session challenges you to combine strong composition, confident color mixing, and refined brushwork into a finished piece you can be proud of.

Cost: $185 for the Full Course (4 class set)
Age: 18+ All skill and creative levels welcome (younger artists are welcome with accompanying adult)
Experience Required: This class is suitable for both beginners and intermediate artists desiring a firm understanding of the watercolor medium. Drawing I skills are helpful, but not required.
