Artist Statement

There is a heightened moment toward an emotive, creative idea and image.  Then I begin the process for making the artwork.  My current paintings use nature and have the regional ‘Western Sky’ as subject matter.

The paintings are abstractions composed from combinations of observations, memories, standards, and improvisations.  ‘Solarvibe’ is a title/term I use for contemplating and combining light comprised as vibrations of a spectrum and colors with sensory influences from sound.  The sense or feeling of spatial perspective and distance has some influence from experiences while tandem skydiving.  I intend for the paintings to offer viewers a contemplative moment, something for thought and relatable aesthetic experience.
